The U.S. Treasury Department on Friday imposed sanctions on Salman Raouf Salman for his role in coordinating the 1994 bombing of a Jewish center in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Salman has a long history of leadership and operational planning within Hizballah, the Treasury said, citing his role in the bombing of the Asociacion Mutual Israelita Argentina (AMIA), which killed 85 people and wounded hundreds more. Salman coordinated the logistics involved with “executing the final stage of the attack” on the AMIA, according to a 2013 report by Argentine prosecutor Alberto Nisman. Salman, also known as Samuel Salman el Reda, is subject to an INTERPOL red notice.
