Iranian Airlines Facing Headwinds

As the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) snapback further debilitates Iran’s ailing civilian aviation sector, Tehran faces few good options to meet domestic demand. Iran will likely need to ramp up sanctions-evasion schemes to procure aircraft parts, as announcements of non-Western sources for financing and manufacturing partnerships are unlikely to suffice.
